December - January: Forces and Motion!
Students completed six weeks of studying forces and motion! They completed five different experiments to test different components of force and motion!
Hopper Popper: Students design Hopper Popper's with paper and rubber bands to explore how force can help move a paper frog to hop!
Building a Bridge: Students designed bridges out of paper and tested to see how much weight they could hold. Students had fun exploring different types of bridge structures and how to construct them out of paper.
Friction Ramp: Students used different materials to create a ramp with changing textures on the road. Then tested how each impacted the speed of the slides.
Exploring Magnets: Students spent time exploring magnets and magnetic materials. They learned and discussed magnetic poles and how they react to one another.
Unlocking a Door: Students created doors and locks out of paper and then found a way to unlock them using magnets, paperclips, and brads.
